Austin Caviness is one of the WXII 12 Weather Plus meteorologists who brings you the most up-to-date weather reports throughout the day.

Austin began working at the station in 1997. He grew up just east of Winston-Salem in Burlington. He attended Appalachian State University and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Broadcasting. Austin then went on to earn his Bachelors of Science in Meteorology in 1994 from the University of N.C. at Asheville.

Achieving great things didn't stop there for Austin. His proudest professional achievement was earning the American Meteorological Society seal of approval. Austin says that his favorite part of his job is "breaking down the challenging variables of the atmosphere into an easy-to-understand forecast for viewers of the Piedmont Triad."

Austin and his wife Angela have two children, Austin II and Lacey. When he's not busy predicting the weather, you might find Austin at Coppola's Pizzeria, his favorite local restaurant.
